On-site Analytical Services

Amine Experts personnel are highly trained in the area of gas sampling and analysis. This service provides the basis for our detailed engineering studies used for process evaluation and optimization. Analytical services include:

  • on-site gas and liquid sampling
  • on-site gas analysis to determine all of the process stream components
  • customized data collection
  • technical support to customer lab personnel
  • review of plant sampling/analysis methods

The on-site test work involves the sampling and analysis of all pertinent gas streams including amine contactor inlet gas, sales gas, flash gas and acid gas. Liquid sampling would include lean amine, make-up water and rich amine.

 

On-site Data Evaluation and Process Optimization

Assessing the plant operating and test data allows for a quick evaluation of the degree of H2S and CO2 pick-up, hydrocarbon and sulphur species solubility, acid gas feed to the sulphur plant and composition of the flash tank vapours. A heat and material balance will indicate how closely your facility runs to a theoretical ideal. Process simulation software provides critical analysis of current test data, operating parameters and mechanical performance. Process improvements are noted and recommendations are provided to get you back on track.

 

Full Engineering Evaluations

Our evaluation includes the current performance of the plant, the expected performance of the plant based on plant modeling and recommendations to optimize your operations to achieve the expected performance. We would also include a full analytical suite on both gas and liquid samples. A critical analysis of the full data set will allow for specific and detailed recommendations that will result in measurable improvement in solution quality, energy consumption, plant performance and operability.

Amine Experts also conducts special studies in the following areas:

  • corrosion potential and evaluation of existing corrosion;
  • solution degradation and contamination;
  • de-bottlenecking for increases in gas throughput;
  • process improvement to reduce downstream dehydration or SRU difficulties;
  • evaluation of different amines as compared to the existing solvent.

 

Integrated Amine and Sulphur Plant Evaluations

A totally integrated evaluation would involve a combination of both the amine plant (Amine Experts) and the sulphur plant (Sulphur Experts) providing a full understanding of the current acid gas handling capability of your facility. This evaluation provides valuable information concerning your optimum operating conditions to:

  • meet environmental compliance and sales gas requirements;
  • reduce down-time, maintenance costs and plant energy consumption;
  • provide more reliable operation;
  • lower operating costs;
  • extend chemical life (amine and catalyst);
  • extend time between scheduled turnarounds.

 

Operator Training

There is a direct link between the level of training and the smooth operation of the amine unit. Training packages are available for anything from generic process fundamentals to in-depth plant specific training modules. These sessions would be beneficial for anyone involved with amine units who would like to expand their knowledge of the process (chemistry, equipment, troubleshooting guidelines, corrosion and analytical tools).

 

Pre-turnaround Plant Evaluation

How many times have you been forced to extend scheduled turnarounds because of unforeseen repairs or replacement of equipment? How often are you made aware of equipment requirements (separators, filters, exchangers, etc.) during a turnaround but don't have the time to install them during the scheduled time frame? You can benefit from our services by evaluating your facility prior to a scheduled turnaround. The evaluation could provide an indication of:
